So I called my local junkyard about the engine they had in their inventory and it started out better than I expected, they told my it turned over freely, had good compression and it was $100 less than advertised on their website. So we exchanged credit card details and I started making plans to pick this engine up tomorrow.

Fast for ward about 2 hours later and the junkyard calls me saying they found a hole somewhere in the engine, i assume after they pulled it out, and they didn’t feel confident selling it to me with their 30 day warranty. T hey were a bit light on actual details but they refunded me and told me that it just so happened that they just got another alfa in and would be willing to check the engine in that one for me but this was about 30 minutes from closing time so I probably won’t hear back until tomorrow.

Well, at least the new Alfa in their yard is another possible lead!

That’s a bummer, but better than them ignoring it and selling you an engine with a hole in the block ;)
